Zuluk is a relatively new tourist destination is a small village in East Sikkim, famous for its old silk route with 95 turns.
Zuluk is a hilltop and a transit point within the Silk Route. The road through Zuluk makes almost 32 hairpin turns to reach Lungthung, which makes it a unique engineering feat.
Zuluk is also the base from which they explore the higher altitude tourist destinations of Nathang Valley, Kupup and Tsongmo lake.
Zuluk derives its tourism importance due to the excellent view of the eastern Himalayan mountain range
including the Kanchenjunga from here. A trip to the area requires special permits. The permits though would be arranged by Travel Agents in SIKKIM and Govt. Authorities,
and as a guest you would only need to provide your id proof and photograph.
Places to visit nearby Zuluk
There are two route through which you can reach Zuluk Gangtok and Rongli.
Gangtok : Tourist visit Zuluk from Gangtok will cover Changu Lake, Nathula Pass, Baba Mandir, Kupup Lake,
Nathang Valley, Thambi view point and night stay at Zuluk.
Rongli : Tourist can also reach Zuluk via Rongli. Only difference is Nathula Pass can't be cover
if you are visiting through Rongli.
Gangtok to Zuluk : 95 kms.
Rongli to Zuluk : 34 kms.
Zuluk has many normal hotels and homestays. Tourist visiting Zuluk can book hotels and homestays directly or
through travel agents.
Permit and Entry Rules
Indian : Indian tourists visiting Zuluk require special permit to visit.
This special permit are provided by Travel Agents in Sikkim, Goverment Authority.
There are two checkpost through which you can visit Zuluk. They are either through Gangtok or Rongli.
To create permit the visiter has to provide below documents:
Passport Size Photo : Two Passport Size photo for each members above 5 years.
ID with Address Proof : An ID with valid ID proof xerox copy is require to create permit.
for each members above 5 years. (for eg. Aadhar card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License with Address part)
Foreigner : are stricly not allowed to visit Zuluk.
Best time to Visit Zuluk
Best time to visit Zuluk is during the months of March, April, May, June, October, Nov. However
the roads are open through the years.
