Joy train
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway famously known as the "Toy Train" or "Joy Train", is a 2 ft narrow gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling India.
This 78 kms railway was built between 1879 and 1881. Its elevation level varies from about 100 metres at New Jalpaiguri to about 2,200 metres at Darjeeling making it the highest railway station in India.
The headquarters of the railway is in the town of Kurseong.
Four modern diesel locomotives handle most of the scheduled services; however the daily Kurseong-Darjeeling return service and the daily tourist trains from Darjeeling to Ghum
are handled by the vintage British-built B Class steam locomotives. The railway, along with the Nilgiri Mountain Railway and the Kalka-Shimla Railway, is listed as the Mountain
Railways of India World Heritage Site. The headquarters of the railway is in the town of Kurseong.

Best time to visit Toy / Joy Train Darjeeling is during the months of March, April, May, June, October, Nov. Most of the roads
remains closed during the month of July, August due to heavy rainfall and landslides. Also some of the tourists
don't prefer to visit Mirik in the months of December, January and Febrary due to cold climates.
